My name is LaCrissa Bellomy. I am a senior at Marshall University, in Huntington West Virginia. I am majoring in Communication Disorders and will graduate in May, and then hopefully attend graduate school the following Fall. I was born and raised in West Virginia and don’t see myself moving anytime soon. I attended Ceredo Elementary, Ceredo-Kenova Middle School, and Spring Valley High School. Mine was the first class to go all four years at the consolodated high school, graduating in 2002. It was an experience to say the least.
I am currenly taking a computer class in the communication disorders program, which is why I have made this web blog. You can click here to view the class website. All of my assignments are posted on this blog and all contribute to the Multigenre Research Project for the class. There are 13 students in the class and we all have different topics for our project (there are links at the class website to their blogs). The topic for my project is dementia. The specific question is, “How does a person’s communication change from early to late dementia?” I think that dementia is an interesting topic, but that is not the only reason I chose it. My great-grandfather is 98 years old. He has mini strokes occassionally which are contributing to dementia.
Although I am not an expert in the field of dementia, or even communication disorders, I have done extensive research for this project and would like for others to find it useful. I researched sites online that I found were reliable and also used articles from Marshall University’s Library. I feel that I have found and provided accurate information in my project and have provided references throughout my project for the information that I have used. I have worked hard and hope that the finished product will be evidence of that.
