Fun/Weird/Zany/Outrageous “Stuff”
It’s always nice to take a break from whatever you’re doing on the computer whether it’s homework or job related. Here is a fun site with games to play when you need a breather. There is a specific game that I like on a different site (which I don’t recommend browsing) but go here and test your mouse-navigating skills. The trick is to make it past level four…good luck! If you like blue collar comedy with Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Ron White, and Larry the Cable Guy, then click here and then click view the trailer for a few good laughs (well…you might not laugh, but I did)!
Speech Pathology/Audiology
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association is a useful site for many. It offers general information for those who are affected by, know someone affected by, or have family members affected by speech, language, or hearing impairments, and offers more specific information for professionals and students studying in these areas. ASHA offers membership to professionals in this field.
American Academy of Audiology is a site that can be used by parents of childern with hearing impairments, adults who have hearing impairments, students, professionals, and others who have an interest in or curiousity about audiology. The AAA offers membership to audiologists.
National Student Speech Language Hearing Association is a site for students who are studying communication disorders. It offers membership to graduate, undergraduate, and doctoral students.
Research Resources (Dementia)
I found medline to be a very useful site for finding information on dementia. Other areas can be searched at this site as well and I would recommend trying it.
Everyday Health is a site that offers information on health conditions, healthy recipes, and the latest in health news. It gave a small amount of information on dementia. However, combined with the other sites it was helpful.
One last site that I’ll include is the Neurology Channel. I found some great information on dementia, but it also gives information about other conditions that affect the nervous system. It is a website of healthcommunities.com which is another site that I would recommend.
Personal Interests
I love to shop! I like to shop for clothes (general, tops, jeans), purses, and doggie stuff. I’m also a fan of Beretta firearms and merchandise. So, what comes along with firearms? Firearm Safety! Here, you can learn about safety and much more. I like to listen to country music, watch tv, and learn about God. Some of my favorite television shows are Grey’s Anatomy, The Unit, CSI (Crime Scene Investigation and Miami), Close to Home, Numb3rs, most things on HGTV or TLC, and Two and a Half Men. I recently became manager (or something) of a laundry mat so it is becoming an interest as well. One last thing I’d like to throw in is something very near and dear to my heart…marriage!!! Have fun looking for your perfect dress. I have a personal favorite, but I don’t want anyone to take it!
